Organisations Data

The organisations were identified through their active engagement in nanotechnology as defined by their having either:

• Participated in a Framework Programme activity (project data from the eCorda database)
• Published (publication data from the Web of Science via the database at CTWS, University of Leiden)
• Patented (patenting data from PATSTAT)
• Been identified as having a nanotechnology-related product (product data from product inventories and databases, supported by information from other sources including) product data sheets and company websites

The information gathered about organisations has undergone extensive checking, matching and cleaning processes, to minimise errors including duplications

The data does not include organisations that identify themselves as active in nanotechnology (e.g. research bodies, product suppliers) unless the information has been confirmed and the organisation has been found to be active in relevant nanotechnology projects, publications, patents and/or production
