Standards
The EU is driving the development of new technical standards for nanomaterials. This includes standards that can also be used for characterising exposure to nanomaterials in the workplace. As part of this work, the European Commission has issued a specific mandate to develop new standards related to nanomaterials in the workplace. Several technical committees are working on this mandate to develop these standards.
Technical committees
- CEN/TC 137 Assessment of workplace exposure to chemical and biological agents
- CEN/TC 352 Nanotechnologies (and its ISO homologue, ISO/TC 229)
- CEN/TC 195 Air filters for general air cleaning
International and EU standards
- Workplace atmospheres: Characterization of ultrafine aerosols/nanoaerosols
CEN/TC 352 Nanotechnologies (and its ISO homologue, ISO/TC 229) - Nanomaterials: Quantification of nano-object release from powders by generation of aerosols
CEN/TC 352 Nanotechnologies (and its ISO homologue, ISO/TC 229) - Nanotechnologies: Guidance for the responsible development of nanotechnologies
CEN/TS 16937:2016 - Nanotechnology: Nanoparticles in powder form – Characteristics and measurements
CEN ISO/TS 17200:2015
